ateljé Lyktan launches new luminaire during Stockholm Design Days 2026 in collaboration with Matti Klenell

Mela was born out of a unique assignment. In connection with the renovation of the National Museum in Stockholm, a number of designers were invited to create completely new objects for the museum's interiors. The result was over 90 newly designed objects based on the building on Blasieholmen in Stockholm, where Mela, designed by Matti Klenell, is now taking a long-awaited step from museum to production.

The shape draws its inspiration from the apple. Soft, balanced, and with a natural weight. As a pendant, Mela appears both as a solitaire and as part of larger compositions, where several shades are gathered in sculptural chandeliers. A system that allows for rhythm, variation, and movement in the room.

Mela is a light object that moves between the individual and the composite. The luminaire family is available as a pendant in three sizes and three colors. The chandeliers are available in three different designs, creating everything from a slightly austere line to more organic and playful formations.
